I wanted to pass on an article in bikeportland.org by Tori Bortman of Gracies Wrench that talks about bike set-ups for touring.  Here’s a snazzy excerpt:

“The good news is that you don’t have to run out and buy a special bike to do a multi-day, self-supported tour. Chances are the bike you’ve got will work just fine.”

I agree. You don’t need a spandex costume or fancy shmance bike to enjoy a tour (not to say I don’t LOVE my new bike. Air hump!) Basically, you need low gears, a good bike fit, and a comfy saddle on your functional bike.  The stellar folks from Cycle Wild can vouch for that.

I’ll leave you with a picture of Tori’s sharp road bike-gone-tour-work-horse as it is parked in a picnic site in the Fossil Beds National Monument.
